We are a passionate team of property professionals with a wealth of experience in business across a multitude of disciplines. And like every business, our aim is to be as successful as we can. We’ve found the best way to do that is to ensure all stakeholders benefit from the experience too. So our focus is on creating property opportunities that make economic and lifestyle sense to everyone involved in journey. Our in-house team has the proven capabilities to take a project from the sale of an existing property, through the planning process right through to the handing over the keys to a new townhome. And at every step along the way, our Bayland directors are ready to assist.


  • Steven Pharr
    Steven PharrManaging Director

    Opportunities are everywhere and it’s the entrepreneurial minded among us that create them. After selling his former IT business to a publically listed company in 2007, Steve saw an opportunity in the property development market and began his journey.

    He learnt all facets of residential property development from industry leaders and started a business with a fresh vision – of fairness, new efficiencies and financial rewards for all stakeholders.

    Steve’s passion helped build a motivated team and together they’ve made Bayland the company it is today. From 1 development in the first year, they’ve grown into one of the largest suburban developers in Victoria. Steve’s primary role now is to ensure that the business remains true to its vision as it grows.

  • Phil Richardson
    Phil RichardsonDevelopment Director

    Phil has been with Bayland from its inception and brings a wealth of experience from a commercial building background. Large-scale projects with tight timelines and building relationships with a mix of stakeholders are both things he has a reputation for excelling at.

    His commitment to detail, effective team/ project management and communication ensure smooth delivery of all Bayland development projects, with the help of his design development team.

  • Francis Galbally
    Francis GalballyNon-Executive Chairman

    Francis Galbally has over 30 years of experience in international business and commercial law. He was a partner in the leading law firm Galbally & O’Bryan during which time he successfully led a number of landmark commercial litigation cases.

    Having been a director and chairman of a number of Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) listed companies. Mr Galbally has first-hand operational experience in growing ‘small cap’ companies.

  • Gerard Zahra
      Gerard Zahra

      Gerard has been part of the Bayland Advisory Team from its inception and brings over 30 years of business, professional accounting, taxation and finance skills and experience to the business.

      He is the principal of an accounting firm based in Melbourne with a number of clients in the property sector.

    • Sarah Dougherty
      Sarah DoughertyChief Financial Officer

      Sarah started with Bayland 18 months ago and her role is to ensure the delivery of the highest standard company accounts functions and payroll services.

      She is also responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures. Sarah has been in the Real Estate industry for over 18 years and her commitment to detail ensures a smooth running of this department.

    • Lucy White
      Lucy WhiteDevelopment Coordinator

      Lucy has been with Bayland since it started and joined the team as a design draftsperson while in her final year of studying Building Design at Victoria University. Lucy’s experience in design and drafting has given her extensive knowledge of the entire development process from design inception through to completion.

      This background of skills has helped Lucy to move into her current position of Development Coordinator where she is responsible for helping deliver projects of varying size and complexity. As Development Coordinator she is responsible for directing, organising and controlling project development activities.
